Being in a relationship is seen as something that most people want. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I also have those feelings at times when I see them taking cute pictures or just laughing together. Coming from a long-term relationship myself, I’m not going to lie the transition has been tough. Throughout these months, I have been learning a long-overdue lesson, to just enjoy being single.
Now, I know how it sounds, it sounds super cliché. But, trust me when I tell you that being single gives you more time for, well, YOU! Use this time to reflect on who you are and who you want to become. Don’t give yourself a deadline on how long until you will be willing to get into a relationship again. That will just make you think about that and not you. Honestly, I didn’t realize being single could be as much fun as being in a relationship.
Not only do you save money, but you can also do anything you want. I mean anything, maybe your past partner wasn’t into a hobby you liked or didn’t want to travel, well now you can do all of those things. This is the time to truly focus on yourself, not thinking about anyone else. I was so used to thinking about another person that I forgot about what I wanted to do. Looking back, I see things from a different perspective, and it’s not necessarily a bad thing. We only have one life, it’s not like we have multiple lives to leave things to the side and say “I’ll do that one day” No, that time is now, take charge, take risks, and be bold!
Look at how you are living your life and if you don’t like something about it, change it! It’s not like you have to think about another person. Everything else will align how it’s supposed to. Want to get fit? Sign up for a subscription in your closest gym, and watch what you’re eating. Want to travel? Book that plane ticket with family or friends. Don’t like where you work or what you do? Apply to places you will enjoy working at, no matter where in the world that may be.
There are many new people you will meet no matter what you do or where you go. You are single, enjoy it, now you get to choose and think about yourself.
